Details:
Join Certified Oxford Punch Needle Instructor, Tyler Sanville in her personal studio to learn all the necessary techniques to kickstart your punch needle journey. Participants will create an 8x8-inch punch needle square. The finished project can be used as a trivet, pillow or hung on the wall. Multiple patterns available to choose from.

This workshop is tailored to beginners and intermediate or self-taught creators who would like a refresher.

In this workshop, participants will learn the following techniques:
- Selecting and tracing a pattern onto monk's cloth
- Stretching a gripper frame with monk's cloth
- Punch needle stitch size
- Spacing rows
- How to punch in straight lines and curves
- How to clean up the front of the rug, including poke and park methods
- Hemming a finished piece
- Displaying the finished piece to use as a trivet, pillow, or wall hanging
- The history of punch needle rug hooking, a distinctly North American fiber craft!

* No prior experience required.

Workshop Space:
Workshops are hosted in my personal studio at the Portico Gallery. The space is small; workshops are limited to four participants.

- 100% Cotton Monk's Cloth
- Selection of patterns available for tracing
- Marker for tracing pattern
- 100% Wool Rug Yarn
- Iron and cloth for steam pressing
- Needle and thread for hemming

The following supplies are available for free during the duration of the workshop. Supplies can be purchased separately.

*Participants are encouraged to bring any supplies (punch needles, frames, etc.) that they already own to practice on.
